6/01/08- (Blog post by Billy Gibson)
It has finally begun. I am happy to say
we are off to a running start with the
race season and I hope all of you guys
are happy that it is here as well. Just
as a note, I wanted to go over a few
things that have arose this season. In
no particular order, please read the
following:
Starts/Restarts- All INITIAL STARTS
will go green at the Starters Green
Flag. All cars must stay in line,
double-file until they hit the line in
Turn Four. Once you break that line, you
can pass to the OUTSIDE only. ALL
RESTARTS will be double-file until the
halfway point. (Exception to the Late
Models who will go under single-file
restarts at all times). ALL RESTARTS
will go green at the fire from the
leader only. Anytime between the two
cones in turn four the leader can fire.
Once the leader fires, the rest of the
field will still stay under the same
rules that take place during normal
initial starts. All cars must stay in
line until you cross the line in turn
four. Once after that line, you can pass
to the outside only.
Alcohol- No alcohol is allowed to be
carried into the grandstands.
Additionally, no alcohol can be carried
from the pit area to the grandstands.
All teams have a privilege of bringing
alcohol into the Speedway to enjoy after
the race events. However, don't abuse
this privilege by bringing it into the
grandstand area. The Speedway does have
beer available at the track for very
reasonable prices.
Qualifying- In many cases there
isn't enough teams in each division to
send anyone home because of not
qualifying. However, we still have a
"Qualified" finishing position for each
heat in every division. This qualifying
is for reason of handicapping only. If
we have 8 cars in a heat, we may
"Qualify" just 6. When it comes time to
complete the lineup for the feature we
will take the 6 "qualified" cars and
line up the feature according to their
handicapped position. The two who didn't
qualify will be thrown into the lineup
according to where they finished in the
heat race. Example- If there is 3 heat
races, and we are taking 6 in each heat
there will be 18 handicapped positions
in the feature lineup. The other 6 (the
2 that didn't qualify in each of the 3
heats) will be put in the tail of the
lineup behind the handicapped 18
according to where they finished in the
heat.
Late Model Tire Schedule- See the
Rules page in the Team Section..
Technical Inspection/Questions- Any
questions on technical inspections, or
any technical questions call Dave
Farrell at (315) 778-8693 or Bryan
Benson at (315) 771-1391. If you are
having trouble getting through to them,
or having a problem in getting your
questions answered call Billy Gibson at
(315) 794-2357.
Late Model Rookies- All rookie
drivers in the Late Model division will
be mandated to use a "Rookie Stripe"
from here on out. The Speedway will
supply the stripes starting on June 7th.
To my knowledge we have at least 5
rookies in this division.
One-way Radios- All drivers, in ALL
SUPPORT DIVISIONS, must be using a
one-way radio. As you all know these are
very very effective to getting a show
underway as well as getting a mess of
drivers in the right positions in the
matter of a half of a lap. We all need
to make sure we, as well as our fellow
drivers, have these radios. If you do
not have one please visit
www.raceceiver.com or go to your
local Radio Shack and pick up a one-way
scanner for $100.
Late Model Spotters- I am glad we
have been able to reach the point where
we have all spotters on top of the
tower. I think it is going to improve
our show and keep everything safe on the
track as long as our drivers don't drive
to aggressive. I hope some of you are
ready to talk to the working announcer
as from here on out we will have a track
announcer on the tower to talk with the
spotters to ask how your car is
reacting, how the driver is feeling, and
any interesting tidbits that the fans
may want to know. It is just going to
improve our show for the fans, as well
as put you spotters into the spotlight
too. You all have a very important
position and I think it is great that
you can get some notice now. Back to the
one-ways, all spotters must have a
one-way to monitor the track radio for
anything going on on the track. It is a
lose-lose for you if you do not have a
one-way. This one-way can gain your
driver a couple of positions when the
line-up is mixed up and this one-way can
also save your car if it is smoking, on
fire, or all of the above. In addition,
if you don't have one, it may end up
causing you to be penalized on the track
for not obeying the Race Directors
command. A quick note for spotters,
please have a piece of tape with your
car number on it tapped to your left
shoulder. It will make it easier for a
track official to spot you and fill you
in on any messages you will want to hear
pertaining to your car.
Thanks guys, and we will see you at the
track this June 7th for Paul Schamback
Custom Homes Night.

Well everybody. It has been a while
since I have used this for communication
to you, but I hope to continue it more
often. As the Late Model guys know, we
have been starting to send out
"newsletter" type of information to your
home addresses. This is something we
will pick up on for all of the support
divisions as well. In the meantime, I
want to keep you all abreast to some
things going on here.
Currently, we are gearing up for the
Salmon Run Mall Show - April 14-20th.
All cars will be going in at the mall on
Sunday, April 13th after 6pm. We need
your help. If we cannot get 12 cars, we
will be scrapping the show. You all
should be jumping on the opportunity to
put you cars in front of a lot of new
faces. Especially given the fact that
sponsors aren't easy to come by. You
should all do your part to market your
sponsors in every way possible. It will
pay off.
Next,
will be the Fort Drum car show at the
military base in Fort Drum, NY. It is a
one-day show on Friday, May 2nd. The day
before the first test and tune. All cars
will be going in, in the morning of the
2nd. We'd like to see the show start at
9am. There will be a place to park
transporters and haulers at both shows.
As
all of you may or may not know, I am now
OUT of the office all week long and back
in the office on the weekends. Anytime
anyone needs to get ahold of me, please
utilize my cell phone number at (315)
794-2357. Call anytime. If I cannot
answer, leave a message and I WILL get
back to you.
We
are getting a lot of interest on the
upcoming season, and a lot of new cars
should grace the pit area. Thanks for
all your support, and please do your
part to keep the interest high, it will
benefit all of us in the long run.
Thanks!

Ok guys. All rules have been updated.
Thanks to everyone for their patience.
Now, considering we have got these out
of the way I want to make note that
those of you who think you may have to
make changes, but aren't sure.. you
probably do. Let us be the one to help
you take care of any rule issues you may
have so you do not have to sweat it come
race-time. I respect the guys who call
in to straighten out any rule conflicts
NOW instead of waiting until the season
starts. Taking care of your problems
now will likely make the
difference between win or lose
then. Call me up anytime, if I
don't know the right answer I will get
it for you promptly. (315) 346-7223.

Hey everybody. I want to thank you all
again for patiently waiting for the
release of the rules. Additionally I
hope you guys can see we as a track are
making every strive possible to keep you
all in the loop. We appreciate your
input and we will continue to consider
it down the road. Furthermore, once the
Light Truck rules are released by the
end of the week. I think we will have a
foundation reached within all our rules.
One of the first things I noticed when I
became a part of the AIS family was that
the rules hadn't reached a solid
foundation to build off of yet. I think
we've reached that. Thanks to all of you
guys for your input. I want to make
note, the banquet is just one month
away. Please remember you need to
contact Candy McIntyre at (315) 796-5979
to reserve your tickets for the event.
It will be January 12th at the Lowville
Elks Lodge. It will be a formal night
and we're excited to finish off the 2007
season in grand style and look forward
to 2008. Hope all of you are ready for
the same. I have started the
Reserved
Car #'s page and I urge all teams,
that aren't already on the list, to
contact me and reserve their number for
2008. A lot of exciting things are being
planned for next years schedule and I
for one can't wait to release it so
everyone can see what we have in store.
Another healthy reminder, we are going
to be hitting the pre-season car shows
like a Nor'easter snow storm so I ask
all teams that are interested, be ready!
We will have dates as soon as they
become available. Until next time, take
care, and once again you can reach me
anytime at
my e-mail or (315) 346-7223. Would
love to hear from you all. Thanks!

Hello everyone, Happy Holidays. As some
of you have noticed the Late Model and
True Stock rules are now final. Official
copies will be available at the banquet.
Everyone please begin to call in and
reserve your numbers for 2008. Also, all
Late Model teams need to call in and let
us know your two-way radio frequency for
2008. Light Truck and Sport Compact
rules will be released very soon.
11/14/07 - (Blog post by Billy Gibson)
Hello everyone, If you haven't noticed
yet, the 2008 ASA Challenger Late Model
rulebook is posted. Visit the Rules page
and click on the link. True Stocks
should be posted soon. Waiting on a
couple of word adjustments before we
release that one. Between the
construction of the '08 schedule, tax
work, other rulebooks, as well as
marketing, I will be in the office to
hear your guys concerns with these
rules, and of course give you my best
judgment. (315) 346-7223 or
at my e-mail.
Thanks!

Hey guys. I know your all patiently
waiting for the rulebooks to be
released. In the midst of battling other
things more pertinent with the Speedway,
as well as getting sponsorship in line
for '08, I am finishing up the first
drafts of the Late Model and True Stock
rulebooks. Your going to see many
changes not just in the format of the
books but with some wording and rules as
well. This year has been a major year in
reconstructing the books and we've been
hard at it. Frank and I will be
reviewing these Today and look to have
them released for November 14th AM. As
for the Light Trucks and Sport Compacts,
no major changes will be implemented
with an exception to the mandated
Hoosier tire for the Sport Compacts. I
am waiting to meet with tech inspector
John Croasdaile so we can run through
each of them. Also- I will be at the
Parts Peddler Show in Syracuse, NY this
Saturday if anyone has any questions or
concerns and would like to get together.
However, the phone is still open at
anytime at (315) 346-RACE. I appreciate
all your guys patience, and I can assure
you, 2008 is shaping up to be a great
season.
10/11/07 - (Blog post by Billy Gibson)

I've discounted the price to $15. Let's
all work together in making 2008 a great
season. The writings on the wall... |
