New Bremen (NY) – This past Saturday, at the Adirondack International Speedway, Mother Nature was the first to the punch. As Speedway Officials anticipated the third week of racing competition, the weather swept in on early Saturday and left high chances of rain throughout the day.

To save the fans and competing teams a trip to the track, the Speedway decided to cancel the event early in the day. “With the rain that came in, as well as not much hope from the weather forecast for the rest of the day we saw it most feasible for us to call it soon, and save everyone both money and time from driving out to the track just to have a rain-out,” said Speedway General Manager Billy Gibson. “It was best for us to take the week off and look forward to this coming Saturday.”

With the rain-out after two weeks of racing completed, the track will re-open this Saturday, June 7th with the same premier ASA-sanctioned racecard. The event will be sponsored by Paul Schamback Custom Homes of Croghan (NY) and will be highlighted with a full-slate of racing featuring the widely popular 50-lap ASA Challenger Late Model main event as well as the True Stocks, Sport Compacts and Light Trucks. Also on the docket are “Mechanics Races” and an intermission Pit-Stop Competition. The pit-stop competition will be the top-four point-runners in the ASA Challenger Late Model division, coming down on to the track and running a two-tire pit stop in checker board square. The team that runs through the stop the quickest will be awarded at the season-ending Awards Banquet. The mechanics races will be a 5-lap event for each division, pitting racecar mechanics against each other in the car that they turn wrenches on. These race events will take place following all of the nights feature-race action. All mechanics wishing to compete must sign in at the main pit gate upon entering the grounds or sign in with head Pit Steward Travis Castor prior to intermission.

With the rain out of this past Saturdays event the Westward Painting Company Light Truck 25-lap event will be rescheduled for a date to be announced. In addition, the American Thunder Jet Truck and Car Burn Exhibition will be rescheduled at a later date.
